G's Grotowski work shop. I though this was really postive G's used Grotowski  theroies to help us focus on emotions, exercising until I felt exhausted meant I was more connected with the emotoin I was trying to show. I was able to switch to a feeling of anger very quickly once I had practised this way of creating this emotion using this technique. I will use this method again.

Sarah asked us to think about Roland and his gestures. As a group we thought about his character and how he may react when he first meets Jamie. We thought he may be awkward and nervous . We tried to show this by his gesture of rubbing his palms on his clothes and by shifting his weight and twitching his leg. I liked this and thought it was believable.

The group did a run thought of the whole play. As we have all mostly learnt our lines i felt this week the story seemed more truthful. We used things we had learnt during the week. Greg and I are signing some of our scenes which will be powerful. I feel we need to continue to try new ideas during our rehearsal and this will develop the characters i would like to try the idea of the whole group dancing together at the end of the show, maybe with different styles such as disco or ballroom.

i feel that having two director is positive for us as this mean we can be challenged with different ideas. from both Sarah and Vanesa.

  1. Good, can you research further into Grotowski to cross reference with your workshop experience? I agree your signed language with Greg is very powerful, but why? Also, do we need to make sure the audience understand the verbal text of your scenes? i'm not sure that we do the emotional rather than literal text might be more important given that scenes are repeated. But we could use voiceovers or subtitles if we wanted to. Do we need to cater for a deaf audience? As this show is not public we expect a hearing student audience but how would we cater for a non hearing one?
