Parts for a short film.

Hey I'm working on a short film that is being submitted for a competition and we need a few supporting artists (extras) for one of the scenes.
Is anyone free on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th and willing to take part in this?
You'll need to get to Brighton.
Unfortunately this will be unpaid work but it will a great way to get connections.

Deaf awareness

Yesterday I told the group it would be the last Deaf Awareness session.The teacher said they were very sad and want more .They have learn,t a lot so far and I am really proud of them . I really enjoy teaching them .They have enjoyed it too.I told them to keep practising their signs. I then said you MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR  .

Prop's update

Hi guys,

Just to update you all with where I am with sourcing and buying props at the moment, I have bought 6 umbrellas and the 5 floor lamps which should be arriving this week fingers crossed. All the other props will be ordered by Tuesday at the latest and I have the 2 bar stools that you used in last Wednesday's rehearsal which have had a makeover and I don't know whether anyone can suggest places around Northbrook that may have some more of the same stools? I know there's one in the theatre that the DSM sits on during a show but I can ask the theatre techs if we can use that as well which takes it up to having 3 stools and I will need at least 3/4 more.

Vanessa, I've just emailed Jo about getting more budget from Andrew for the show so hopefully I will hear about that tomorrow or Tuesday hopefully.

Umbrella's & Torches

Hi all,

As I am really low on budget and i have to order all the props that I can get online in the short amount of time that i have, I was wondering if anyone can bring an umbrella in if they have one and don't mind having fairy lights put in them. I will need 6 umbrellas in total and they will be kept in our Production room so they won't go missing. Also if anyone has a small LED torch that they can bring in that would be great. I will need 4 in of these in total as well. If any of you could bring some in for me next Wednesday (10th) December then that would be amazing!!

Rehearsal thursday 4/12

Today we are going back to the scripts. Looking for things we assumed that maybe need more depth. looking for physical actions for the objectives.

Look at the structure of sentences, speeches for clues to the characters and their objectives.
Look at the rhythm and the grammar.
Make sure you would be able to finish sentences that are interrupted in the script.
Why are some scenes in italics? what is that a clue to?

• be careful of referencing football playing tom with another actor. might confuse audience.
• G & Sam; when you go into another universe, maybe the others can roll out and give up their spaces

Yesterday I showed my classmates youtube John Smith a Deaf comedian.I then  asked them what do you think about John Smith? Some of them liked him and some of them didn't like deaf comedy. There was good feedback . The group saw what was different between deaf comedy and hearing comedy . After this I  taught them signs about travel like car, lorry , airplane . Then I asked them questions like What time you wake up? and how do you get to college ? It will be the  last deaf awareness next week .

• Rolands in opening sequence find stillness and your jamie faster; it looks messy
• all have to say i'm jamie, i'm roland
• you all need to be confident with the order too long pauses before each scene
• lovely puppet first scene paige and chris. maybe we need to establish characters a bit more first before they appear?
• Harry and Zoe first scene. let's try an overlap. Harry go from James' universe and go close to Zoe when you kneel down beside her
• Can we all try that you take exact pose of previous Jamie or Roland to start your scene with…
• lovely idea to mould G & Sam. can you think further when in the lines the action comes and what it signifies? How does it help you illustrate your desire or objective.
• Have we lost some of those very engaging duration, repetition tempo moments?
• Jamie's motif could work well over zoe's speech but needs adjusting. More 'cosmological'??
• Zoe's line ' in a multiverse, every choice….' needs something impressive to help with meaning.
• G & Sam, can you try next time you do playing tennis scene from across the stage? But great movement sequence.
• Great overlap with affair reveal with paige & chris and harry and zoe. can you 4 work together on choreographing that sonically? 
• but then, finish paige and chris scene but james' one line can come a bit earlier.
• Some Rolands need to be much more surprised by reveal so that when Dan says ' i know' it's genuine. otherwise it feels like all Rolands already knew.
• Paige and Chris. Maybe your couple resorts to puppets when things are hard to say or words difficult to find.
• Harry appear from somewhere different in the ballroom scene? maybe from a new universe?
• At ballroom dance scene. Something in the universes has changed. You can't do scenes from your old two people universe. Maybe the dance sequence needs to come before then to break the universes? Maybe whole dynamic and setting needs to change for this. Whole ballroom dance sequence where jamie's talk across to Rolands? Maybe it's during the lesson rather than just before with all of you just stretching. 
• Let's go for a drink scenes. You have to show different choices.
• Yes let's overlap agreeing to proposal Jonathan and Greg with Yvette and Dan scene.
• great keyboard tapping /drumming Greg, lt's revisit.
• Harry and Zoe, i got by biopsy results. Can we try that overlap over chris and paige proposal? just the beginning of it? then it can be repeated. Ideally with the 'i love you' repeated again just after paige says no.
• Jamie and Laura work with Jonathan and Greg to overlap your scenes. It could be really powerful.
• Yvette and Dan can you work with Sam and G to intermingle your scenes? the going abroad with the cancer reveal scene.
• chris and james, please work towards performing without scripts as soon as possible
